AIoD service providers (ICT-49)

The ICT-49 cluster projects build on the AI-on-demand-platform (AIoD) aiming to facilitate the integration of AI into applications and consolidate the ecosystem by bringing in a larger user community and by reinforcing the service layer of the platform to ensure it is a compelling solution for users, especially from non-tech sectors.

These projects contribute to the platform by providing AI-related knowledge, algorithms, tools, access to related infrastructures, equipment, data resources and expert support.

StairwAI - Stairway to AI: Ease the Engagement of Low-Tech users to the AI-on-Demand platform through AI

Start date: 1 January 2021

End date: 31 December 2023

Scope:

The most fundamental need of the AI4EU on-demand Platform at this stage in its development is the introduction of improved functionality to allow for the easy engagement of its core target stakeholders, namely SMEs. While additional resources and strong domain-specific solutions are also needed, it will be a wasted enterprise without a simple mechanism to match users to these assets. What is needed is a Stairway to AI, a linking bridge between users at a low-tech level to the higher-level AI resources that have the potential to transform both their businesses.

Main objective:

The StairwAI project targets low-tech users with the goal of facilitating their engagement on the AI on-demand Platform. This will be achieved through a new service layer enriching the functionalities of the on-demand platform and containing:

  1. a multi-lingual interaction layer enabling conversations with the Platform in the user’s own language
  2. a horizontal matchmaking service for the automatic discovery of AI assets (tools, data sets, AI experts, consultants, papers, courses etc.) meeting the user business needs and
  3. a vertical matchmaking service that will dimension and provision hardware resources through a proper hardware provider (HPC, Cloud and Edge infrastructures).

AIPlan4EU - Bringing AI Planning to the European AI-on-Demand platform

Start date: 1 January 2021

End date: 31 December 2023

Scope:

Automated Planning and Scheduling is a central research area in AI that has been studied since the inception of the field and where European research has been making strong contributions over decades.

Planning is a decision-making technology that consists of reasoning on a predictive model of a system being controlled and deciding how and when to act in order to achieve the desired objective. It is a relevant technology for many application areas that need quick, automated and optimal decisions, like agile manufacturing, agrifood or logistics.

Although there is a wealth of techniques that are mature in terms of science and systems, several obstacles hinder their adoption, thus preventing them from making the footprint on European industry that they should make.

Main objective:

The AIPlan4EU project will bring AI planning as a first-class citizen in the European AI On-Demand (AI4EU) Platform by developing a uniform, user-centered framework to access the existing planning technology and by devising concrete guidelines for innovators and practitioners on how to use this technology.

BonsAPPs - AI-as-a-Service for the Deep Edge

Start date: 1 January 2021

End date: 31 December 2023

Scope:

Artificial intelligence (AI) design is an integral part of every smart device and application that we use daily. The developments in the field are growing at a fast pace as there is a constant need for new frameworks to use and optimise applications.

Main objective:

BonsAPPs project aims to develop a fully functional, scalable AI-as-a-Service layer that will interoperate with the AI on-demand platform as an external service.

BonsAPPs will allow users to develop AI solutions to solve real-world industry challenges at the deep edge that requires a number of AI artifacts and services produced by different stakeholders.

AI developers and platform providers will be accessible on the BonsAPPs services layer to respond to these challenges, leveraging on the Bonseyes AI Marketplace to deliver end-to-end, containerized, ready-to-integrate and re-usable solutions that will also be integrated and interoperable with the AI-on-Demand platform.

AI4Copernicus - Reinforcing the AI-on-Demand platform by Advancing Earth Observation Intelligence, Innovation & Adoption

Start date: 1 January 2021

End date: 31 December 2023

Scope:

Delivering 12 TB of space data per day, Copernicus is the world’s largest space data provider. At the same time, artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming an indispensable and ubiquitous tool for growth and innovation.

AI4Copernicus project will bridge the EU AI-on-demand platform with Copernicus Data and Information Access Services (DIAS) platforms to enable innovative players to break new ground.

Main objective:

AI4Copernicus aims to bridge Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Earth Observation (EO) world by making the AI-on-Demand platform the platform of choice for users of Copernicus data along the value chain (scientists, SMEs, and non-tech sector).

AI4Copernicus will achieve this by exposing AI-on-Demand resources on EO data (DIAS – data and information access services) platforms, making it easy to procure computing power and large EO data, as well as to access training material and expertise.
